This talk held for 2 weeks but I miss the first talk
because of some personal reasons.
After listening to the talk,
I kinda feel disappointing on not able to go for the first talk.
Sad face. =(
I felt that the talk was kind of interesting.
The talk was about modernism and modernity but focused on under
a topic which is stereotyping.
I kind have a strong memory on him talking about
american design Nike shoe with Obama face on it and they were okay with it.
But let's think in another way,
if we were to put our country prime minister's face on a shoe.
I think a lot of the people here will have different opinion with it.
Most of the people think that shoe is something dirty which you step on the floor everything.
Do you think the prime minister will let us step on his face everyday?
It's kind of subjective question.
To the west, they think that they are supporting him by wearing it everyday.
But Asian, mostly do not think that.
Another example of shoes and cloths.
Chanel handbag with the flag on it.
Even converse that the flag design on it. ^^
England national flag is kinda use as a fashion trend nowadays.
They been printed on cloths, pants, shoes, bads and etc.
People kinda love it and buy these design
although they are not from that country.
This is Switzerland flag on Nike shoe.
We can clearly see that Asian do not put their national flag as design.
To them, it must be place in a respectful place.
I have a question in my head now.
If your country citizens,
all wearing other country design of stuff.
Will it look like they are supporting other country but yours?
LOL
This question just kinda POP UP in my head.
But in my opnion,
by placing our flag as design does not mean that we do not respect it
but to show how we love our country that much
until we wear them every single day.
Thank you to Shaw Hong
for sharing all these.
I took it and learn it and I like it.
